Guojun Chen

Lead Process Scientist-Director at SiPhox

Guojun Chen has held various roles in the scientific and engineering fields since 2004. Guojun began their career as a Process/Electronic Engineer at Beijing Chenjing Electronic Co., Ltd. (707) where they worked on mechanical modeling, circuit design, surface acoustic wave, and process. Guojun then moved to the University of Georgia in 2007 as a Research Assistant. In 2011, they became a Postdoc Research Associate at the US Army Institute of Surgical Research before moving to the Department of Radiology, School of Medicine, Emory University in the same role. In 2012, they joined Bruker Nano Surfaces as a Senior Development Scientist and worked on system integration, instrumentation, surface chemistry and characterization, micro fluid cell, and polymer formulation. In 2015, they joined Complete Genomics Inc. as a Staff Engineer-Metrology and worked on microfluidics, micro-fabrication, process, and metrology. In 2016, they joined Roche as a Research Leader and Senior Process Engineer and worked on micro fabrication process and metrology, surface chemistry, and material compatibility. In 2021, they joined Meridian Bioscience Inc. as Senior Manager of Research & Development and in 2022 they joined SiPhox Inc. as Lead Process Scientist-Director.

Guojun Chen has a varied educational background. Guojun obtained a Ph.D in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from The University of Georgia in 2011. Prior to that, they obtained an M.E. in Chemical Engineering from Nanjing Tech University in 2004. In 2021, Chen obtained certifications in Learn VHDL and FPGA Development from Udemy, Machine Learning and several Python courses from Coursera. In 2020, they obtained certifications in Learning FPGA Development and Learning Verilog for FPGA Development from LinkedIn, Six Sigma: Black Belt from LinkedIn, Solid Edge PCB Flow, CFD FloMASTER and L Edit MEMS Basic MEMS Layout from Mentor Graphics. In 2016, they obtained a Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute. In 2015, they obtained an Introduction to Genomic Technologies certification from Coursera Course Certificates. In 2013, they obtained a Digital Signal Processing certification from Coursera. Lastly, they are currently enrolled in a Project Management program at UC Santa Barbara.
