Alex Bates

Alex Bates, CPA, currently serves as the AVP of Investment Accounting and Reporting at SiriusPoint since August 2020, providing support to the Chief Accounting Officer and managing complex financial issues. Prior experience includes a role as a Senior at KPMG in Bermuda, focusing on Re/Insurance Audit and compliance with PCAOB standards from September 2018 to July 2020. Prior to that, Alex worked as a Senior Accountant at Grant Thornton LLP, conducting audits and tax preparations, and began the accounting career as a Staff Accountant at Grant Thornton LLP (Canada). Earlier work experience includes positions as Sports Editor at The Argosy, Customer Service Representative at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and Summer Camp Counselor at the Canadian Diabetes Association. Alex holds a CPA designation from CPA Canada (2015-2017) and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Mount Allison University (2011-2015) with a focus on Accounting and Music.
