Alex French

Head of Product and Customer Analytics at SIRO Ireland

Alex French has extensive work experience in the technology and internet industry. Alex started their career in 1995 as a co-founder and technical manager at Club Internet, where they were responsible for the technical architecture and operations of the ISP. Alex co-founded Bitbuzz in 2003, where they served as a co-founder and director of operations. In this role, they oversaw the technical operation of the network, negotiated international roaming agreements, and represented Bitbuzz on industry and regulatory bodies.

From 1999 to 2002, Alex worked at VIA NET.WORKS as a senior product architect and later as a product architect. Alex then served as the Vice Chair of INEX (Internet Neutral Exchange) from 1999 to 2002, where they modernized the exchange rules and wrote a business plan for expansion.

In 2009, Alex became a non-executive director at ISPAI (Internet Service Providers Association of Ireland), where they liaised with other industry groups and lobbied government bodies on behalf of Irish ISPs.

Alex also worked as a mentor at the Social Innovation Fund Ireland in 2016, providing technical knowledge and leadership to a grantee social startup.

From 2015 to 2018, Alex worked as an interim CTO at fafinder by frockadvisor, where they helped build an engineering team and an AWS-based platform for a customer engagement and social platform for fashion retailers.

Alex worked as a technical advisor and provided guidance to various Irish startups from 2016 to 2018, focusing on building teams and utilizing cloud development best practices.

In 2017, Alex joined SIRO as part of the commercial team, working on product, pricing, and regulatory functions. Alex was later promoted to Head of Product and Customer Analytics, responsible for the development and management of SIRO's FTTH products and employing advanced analytics for targeting build and promotional efforts.

Alex French completed their Bachelor of Arts (Mod) degree in Mathematics at Trinity College Dublin from 1994 to 1998. Following this, they pursued further research towards a postgraduate degree in Computer Science at the same institution from 1998 to 2001. Prior to their college education, Alex obtained their Leaving Certificate from St. Michael's College from 1990 to 1994.

In terms of additional certifications, Alex completed the "MIT Sloan Pricing: Using Data to Improve Pricing Performance" course at MIT Sloan School of Management in August 2020. They also obtained the CompTIA Security+ ce Certification from CompTIA in April 2019, the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certification from Amazon Web Services in July 2015, and the JNCIA-ER certification from Juniper Networks in October 2009.
