Dr. Vimal Ramjee is senior staff cardiologist at Memorial Hospital and practices with the Chattanooga Heart Institute.
Vimal obtained dual bachelor of science degrees in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology, and Business Management and Policy. He received his doctorate from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He served an internship and residency in internal medicine at Emory University Hospital. He obtained Fellowship status in Cardiovascular Disease from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and completed training in Cardiovascular Computed Tomography Imaging at Johns Hopkins University.
Vimal is a 2015 national winner of the Northwestern Cardiovascular Young Investigators Forum. In 2019 he was appointed director of Memorial Hospital’s Cardiovascular CT Imaging. He is Board Certified in Echocardiography, Cardiac CT and Nuclear Cardiology. He holds medical licenses in George, Pennsylvania and Tennessee. He has authored or co-authored multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals, along with books, monographs and textbooks. He is an invited lecturer to the Annual Chattanooga Cardiology Symposium, the University of Pennsylvania, Emory University Hospital, American College of Physicians in Toronto and the Eastern Vascular Society in Boston.
He is a Fellow of Omicron Delta Epsilon; a Fellow of Nu Rho Psi; an Associate of the American College of Physicians in Internal Medicine; a Diplomat of the American Society of Echocardiography; and a member of the Society of Computed Tomography, American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, Heart Rhytm Society, and American College of Cardiology.
A native of Johannesburg, South Africa, Dr. Ramjee enjoys deep sea diving, travel, community service and hiking.
