Stephen Downing

Stephen Downing is an experienced cardiothoracic surgeon currently serving as Chairman of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Catholic Health since January 2017, while also holding the position of Cardiothoracic Surgeon for Catholic Health System since July 2013. Previously, Stephen held roles such as Clinical Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Erie County Medical Center from 2009 to 2010, and consultant at GDS from 2005 to 2010. From 2003 to 2010, Stephen practiced as a surgeon at Mercy Hospital. Stephen obtained an MD from Washington University School of Medicine (1993-1996) and has also attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine (1987-1993), Georgetown University School of Medicine (1983-1987), and the University of St Andrews (1982-1983), alongside undergraduate studies at Georgetown University (1979-1983) and Canisius High School.
