Vallan Sherrod

Vallan Sherrod has a diverse work experience that spans over a decade. Vallan is currently working at Sisu as an Engineering Manager, where they are responsible for overseeing engineering projects. Prior to that, they worked as a Robotic Systems Engineer at Sisu, where they developed software and performed testing on industrial automation projects, troubleshooted issues with robotic systems, and created math and software for a time-based cinema robot application.

Before joining Sisu, Vallan worked at Brigham Young University as a member of the Robotics and Dynamics Laboratory. Vallan attended lab meetings and did tutorials to familiarize himself with Linux, Python, and ROS. Vallan engaged in mentored research and discovered kinematic parameters on a soft, pneumatically controlled robot. Additionally, they served as a Dynamics and Statics Teaching Assistant, assisting the professor in a class of over 200 students, teaching test reviews, grading assignments, and creating course materials.

Vallan also gained valuable experience at Autonomous Solutions, Inc. (ASI) as an Embedded Software Engineer Intern. Vallan was a member of the software platform team, where they implemented and tested software for autonomous vehicles, including 3D obstacle detection and path planning. Vallan also worked at Draper as a Graduate Student Technical, where they implemented and tested autonomy for unmanned aerial and ground vehicles.

Earlier in their career, Vallan worked as a Laborer at Wasatch Pallet, where they constructed wooden pallets and frames. Vallan also had experience as a Cook/Delivery Driver at The Pizza Factory, where they coordinated with other cooks to efficiently prepare food and delivered orders to various towns. Vallan worked as an Associate at Express Employment Professionals, conducting full-time work at Wasatch Pallet under the company's staffing contract. Vallan also worked temporary jobs for SOS Employment Group, now Elwood Staffing, where they gained experience in various tasks such as irrigation system installation and assembly line work.

Furthermore, Vallan has experience as a Dish Washer at The Pizza Factory and as a Water Meter Reader at Covered Bridge Canyon POA, where they diligently performed their responsibilities.

Vallan Sherrod completed a High School Diploma from Spanish Fork High School between 2005 and 2008. During this time, their coursework focused on computer science and math. Later, they pursued higher education at Brigham Young University, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. This degree was earned between 2012 and 2018.
