Tom Ashton has a diverse work experience in the biotech industry. Tom is currently working at Sitryx as an Associate Principal Scientist since June 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Sitryx as a Senior Scientist from January 2021 to June 2023. Before joining Sitryx, Tom worked at ADAPTIMMUNE Ltd as a Senior Scientist from May 2017 to January 2021, where they focused on developing human 3D cell models for preclinical safety testing in the field of adoptive T-cell therapy. Tom also had a role as a Postdoctoral Scientist at the University of Oxford from an unspecified date before 2011 to May 2017, where they conducted research on identifying compounds that reduce hypoxia in tumors. Additionally, they worked as an Academic Tutor at the University of Oxford from 2009 to 2015. Tom's earlier experience includes working as a Scientific Lead at Panacea Innovation, a student-led biotech communication and transfer company, from April 2016 to March 2017.
Tom Ashton began their education at Monmouth School in South Wales from 1996 to 2003. After completing their schooling there, they pursued a BA Hons in Biological Sciences at the University of Oxford from 2003 to 2006. Tom then continued their studies at the same university and obtained a DPhil in Medical Oncology from 2006 to 2010.
