James Gaven

James Gaven has worked as a compliance counsel and advisor for some of the biggest names in finance. James is currently the General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer at SK Capital Partners.

Gaven started their career at Brown Brothers Harriman in 2000, before moving to Ramius LLC in 2005. James then spent three years at Merrill Lynch, first as a consultant and then as an associate. In 2009, they joined Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P. as Compliance Counsel.

In 2011, Gaven left Kohlberg to join Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe as Senior Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer. James remained with Welsh until 2020, when they joined Text IQ as an advisor. Gaven has been with SK Capital since May of 2020.

James Gaven attended the University of Illinois College of Law, where they earned their Juris Doctor. Prior to that, they attended Wesleyan University, where they earned a BA in Economics & Government. James also attended Morris Hills High School.

James Gaven reports to Barry Siadat, Co-Founder & Managing Director. They work with Anne Kolton - Chief Sustainability Officer, Robert Abrams - Vice President, and Mario Toukan - Managing Director.
