Sonny DeLara

Sonny DeLara has extensive work experience starting from 1988 as a SysAdmin at Excelan. Sonny then worked as a Senior Quality Engineer at Novell from 1990 to 2000, focusing on network management, OS, directory services, and messaging engineering. At NetApp, Sonny served as a Senior Quality Engineer in storage protocols and data protection engineering, from 2000 to 2010. Sonny was responsible for project leadership, configuring storage networks, and quality assurance tasks. Sonny then joined Marvell Semiconductor as a Field Applications Senior Engineer, where they supported customers, partners, and resellers for enterprise storage solutions from 2011 to 2013.

From 2014 to 2016, Sonny worked at Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. as a Systems and Applications Senior Staff Engineer. Sonny led IO performance benchmarking projects for SSDs and HDDs and staged trade event demo equipment. As a Lead Performance Engineer at Samsung Semiconductor from 2016 to 2017, Sonny focused on performance optimization. Sonny then became a Technical Consultant at King Star Computers from 2017 to 2018.

Currently, Sonny works as a Product and Applications Engineer at SK hynix memory solutions inc. Their role involves acting as a technical liaison between functional teams and enterprise customers to set development roadmaps.

Sonny DeLara has a diverse education history. Sonny started their post-secondary education in 1984 at San Francisco State University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 1987. From 1988 to 1998, Sonny pursued post-baccalaureate courses in Computer Science at UC Berkeley Extension and UC Santa Cruz Extension, with a focus on subjects such as Operating Systems, Programming Languages, Windows Programming, Networking, and Shell Scripting.

In 2000, Sonny further expanded their knowledge by earning certificates in Project Management, Windows Administration, and Data Management from NetApp & Microsoft University. Sonny continued their education at Keys To The Vault Business School Mentorship from 2006 to 2010, where they obtained certificates in Business & Investment Management.

Sonny also engaged in specialized training programs. Sonny attended Marvell Semiconductor Training from 2011 to 2013, where they studied Caching Algorithms, Linux, Virtualization, and I/O Performance. In 2014 and 2015, Sonny completed training at Toshiba America Training, focusing on Project Leadership, SPC Toolkit, and SSD and HDD Specs.

Outside of their computer science-related education, Sonny pursued a certificate in Music Production from Berklee College of Music. However, the specific timeframe for this certificate was not provided.

In addition to their educational achievements, Sonny holds various certifications. Sonny became an Innovation Project Leader at Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc in 2015. In 2010, they obtained CCIM 101-104 certification from the CCIM Institute. Sonny is also a licensed Real Estate Broker, having obtained their certification from the California Department of Real Estate in June 2008.
