Eric Shewmaker has extensive experience in the field of anesthesiology and perioperative medicine. Eric currently holds the position of Perioperative Medical Director and Chief of Anesthesiology at Skagit Valley Hospital since November 2021. Before that, they worked for Bellingham Anesthesia Associates as an Anesthesiologist, Partner, and Director since August 2016. In addition, they served as the Vice Chair of Anesthesiology at PEACEHEALTH SAINT JOSEPH HOSPITAL from January 2021 to December 2021. Prior to these roles, Eric Shewmaker worked as a Resident Physician in Anesthesiology at the University of Washington Affiliated Hospitals from June 2012 to July 2016. Eric also held the role of Perioperative Medical Director at United General Hospital from December 2020 to December 2021.
Eric Shewmaker attended the University of Southern California from 2004 to 2008, where they received a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biochemistry and Business Administration. Eric then went on to attend the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson from 2008 to 2012, earning their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. Subsequently, from 2012 to 2016, they completed their Residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Washington. Eric Shewmaker also holds additional certifications including being a Delegate of the ABA, Board-Certified Anesthesiologist from The American Board of Anesthesiology, as well as certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from American Heart Association and American Stroke Association.
