Richard Soons

Richard Soons possesses extensive experience in animal health, welfare, and biosecurity, currently serving as Team Leader and Senior Specialist of Supervision at Skal Biocontrole since February 2020. Prior roles include Senior Advisor and Team Leader at Stichting Beter Leven keurmerk, where focus was on livestock farming, as well as Project Manager and Regional Manager at Co-More. Richard Soons contributed to the Dutch pig sector through collaboration with stakeholders on responsible antibiotic use. Further background includes managerial positions in the pork sector at the Product Board for Livestock and Meat, Senior Policy Advisor roles at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture, and advisory work for MAF Biosecurity New Zealand. A Master of Science in Veterinary Epidemiology and Agricultural Economics was obtained from Wageningen University & Research.
