Merete Agergaard

Merete Agergaard is a seasoned professional in public administration with extensive experience in leadership roles within various governmental agencies in Denmark. Currently serving as Departementschef and Permanent Secretary at Skatteministeriet since September 2024, Agergaard previously held the position of Direktør for Skattestyrelsen from July 2018 to September 2024, and prior to that, served as Konstitueret Direktør for SKAT and Direktør for Kundeservice at SKAT between May 2016 and June 2018. Agergaard also has a strong background in organizational management, having been Direktør at Arbejdsskadestyrelsen from June 2014 to April 2016 and Afdelingschef at Beskæftigelsesministeret from October 2009 to June 2014. Agergaard began the professional career as Koncern HR og Kommunikationschef at the Danish Ministry of the Environment from 1999 to 2009. Agergaard holds a degree in law (Cand, Jura) from Københavns Universitet, obtained between 1986 and 1992.
