Senior Developer at Skeleton Key

Stu Dietz is a senior developer at Skeleton Key. Stu previously worked as a filemaker developer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from October 2002 to December 2017. During their time at MIT, they provided centralized in-house FileMaker development, application support, operational support, BA/PM services, and knowledge management for the MIT community.

Some of their notable work includes developing and supporting FileMaker applications for dozens of departments and offices at MIT, including several high profile, sensitive, and mission critical systems. Stu also solved many challenges related to integration of FileMaker with central MIT systems and resources, including external authentication via Kerberos, ESS connectivity to the MIT Data Warehouse and other Oracle/MySQL databases, and SMTP mail.

Dietz also teamed with IT operations staff to help manage the FileMaker Server hosting environment at MIT, which presently consists of 50+ virtualized, hybrid cloud-based servers. Stu collaborated with others to develop best practices and documentation for FileMaker use at MIT, including coding standards, hosting and security practices, customer support model, and knowledge management.

During their time at MIT, Dietz developed a robust FileMaker CRM product used by multiple departments and offices at MIT. Core features include integrations with central MIT systems, mail merge, constituent interaction tracking, academic tracking, and cohort management. Stu employed novel methods for managing customer-specific customizations, as well as a release process for deploying product updates to existing clients.

Stu also developed a high-profile system for the Office of Undergraduate Advising and Academic Programming for managing the needs of three business units. Functionality included tracking the workflow for several sensitive processes such as student withdrawals, returns, performance flagging, academic counseling, and disability accommodations.

Dietz's final major development project was an academic program administration system used by several departments. Core features include student lifecycle tracking (admissions to alumni), faculty tracking, and class scheduling.

Stu Dietz has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Stu also has a certification from FileMaker Inc., an Apple subsidiary, in FileMaker 17 Certified Developer. In addition, they have a certification from Scrum Alliance in Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and a certification from Scrum Alliance in Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO). Stu also has a certification from FileMaker Inc., an Apple subsidiary, in FileMaker 12 Certified Developer.

Their manager is Greg Lane, CTO & Principal Developer. They are on a team with Jeremy Upton - Lead Developer, Eric Church - Developer, and Dustyn Schlett - Junior Developer.
