Elena Valentine has had a varied career, beginning in 2007 as a Union Organizer for AFSCME Council 31. In 2010, they became a Research Associate for gravitytank, where they used ethnography, digital research tools and a video camera to understand why people do what they do. In 2014, they became the CEO/Co-Founder of Skill Scout, where they oversaw day to day company responsibilities while providing long term vision and designing and launching initiatives that aligned with strategic goals and current business offerings. In 2015, they were a Chicago 2015 Fellow for New Leaders Council. In 2017, they became Co-Founder/Board President of Mezcla Media Collective, a young non-profit with a growing community of 400+ members. Elena also serves as a Public Speaker for Skill Scout.
Elena Valentine attended Tribeca Flashpoint College from 2008 to 2010, where they earned a Recording Arts degree. Elena then attended Grinnell College from 2003 to 2007, where they earned a BA in Spanish and Anthropology.
