Gerald Kunar

Gerald Kunar is the Head of Authorisation and Head of Safety at Škoda Group, responsible for creating submission documents to obtain vehicle approvals for railway vehicles, working with independent safety assessors and national safety authorities. Prior to this, Gerald served as Safety Manager at Stadler Rheintal AG, overseeing international rolling stock projects in the UK, Hungary, and Slovenia. Previous roles at Thales included RAMS - Assurance Manager, where responsibilities encompassed interface management with safety assessors, and General Programme Manager for international projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards for the ETCS Level 1 system in multiple countries. Gerald's career began at ITT/Alcatel as a Data Preparation Engineer, followed by technical project management roles in telecommunications. Gerald holds multiple degrees in Railways Safety Engineering, Functional Safety, and Project Management, alongside a strong technical background in electronics and telecommunications.
