Turf Specialist at Skokie Park District

Steinhoff plays a key role in maintaining turf and turf-related areas across the District’s parks and athletic fields. As a Turf Specialist, he leads a crew and supervises full-time and seasonal maintenance staff while overseeing all turf maintenance activities. His responsibilities include training and supervising staff, performing preventive maintenance on equipment, and managing the inventory of tools and supplies. Steinhoff also develops and implements the turf maintenance program, including fertilization, pesticide application, seeding, and aeration. He ensures the proper operation and repair of irrigation systems, follows safety guidelines, and assists with tree pruning, planting, and landscape construction. Steinhoff actively contributes to green practices and integrated pest management, and he maintains accurate records of all turf-related activities.
