Ron Cao

Founder and Managing Partner at Sky9 Capital

Ron Cao has over 20 years of experience in venture capital, technology, and finance. Ron started their career in 1995 as an intern and associate at Goldman Sachs. In 1997, they joined Intel Corporation as a product marketing and manufacturing operations professional. In 1999, they moved to KLM Capital as a Managing Director, where they invested in semiconductor, communications, and IT industries. In 2006, they joined Lightspeed Venture Partners as a Partner. In 2010, they became the Director of Maitian Education Foundation, a grass-root NGO in China. In 2011, they co-founded Lightspeed China Partners and in 2013, they were selected as a Young Global Leader at the World Economic Forum. In 2016, they founded and became a Managing Partner of Sky9 Capital, an early-stage technology venture capital firm.

Ron Cao began their educational journey at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science between 1992 and 1996. Ron then went on to receive a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) from MIT in 1997, in the field of EECS. In 2017, Ron Cao completed an Executive Education program in Leadership at Harvard Kennedy School.
