Jon Richardson

Jon Richardson has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Jon began their career at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the University of Texas Center for High-Performance Computing, where they gained experience in scientific research and development, with a focus on scientific visualization, image processing, and 3D graphics. During this time, they also gained expertise in C programming, Unix, Inter-Process Communication, and Matlab, among other technologies.

In the mid-1990s, Jon worked as a Software Engineer at Top Dog Software, IBM, and On-Demand Technologies, where they focused on video game development and utilized languages such as C, C++, KSH (korn shell), TCL, and Expect.

Jon then worked at LXE as a Project Software Engineer before joining Georgia Tech Research Institute as a Research Scientist II. At Georgia Tech, they developed MS Windows applications and embedded systems for electronic warfare avionics, using languages such as C++ and Assembly Language.

From 2002 to 2016, Jon worked at EchoStar Corporation as a Senior Engineer, Embedded. During this time, they developed embedded, multi-threaded software for EchoStar/DishNetwork products, designed and implemented code to manage HDMI interfaces, and created a unit-test framework.

After their time at EchoStar, Jon gained experience as a contractor (SW developer) at Acuity Brands and started their independent consulting business. Jon provided consulting services as a freelancer and entrepreneur from 2016 to 2019.

In 2018, Jon joined Wipro Limited as a SW Team Lead at FedEx, where they led a team of developers in India and the USA.

Most recently, Jon has been employed by Skyline Products, Inc. as a Software Engineer, where they develop operational software, automated tests, and investigates color calibration for Skyline signs, using languages such as C++, Python, and SNMP.

Jon Richardson has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Applied Mathematics from The University of Alabama. Jon also holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

In addition to their academic achievements, Jon Richardson has obtained several certifications. In November 2020, they completed the "COVID-19 Contact Tracing" course offered by Coursera. In February 2020, they obtained the "IS-700 - Intro to National Incident Management System" certification from FEMA. In July 2017, they completed the "Dismantling Racism Training" provided by the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta. Furthermore, in March 2017, they obtained the "Community Emergency Response Team" certification from FEMA. In the same year, Jon Richardson also completed the "Citizen Police Academy" program offered by the Chamblee Police Department. In December 2016, they obtained the "ICS-100" certification from FEMA. In May 2016, Jon Richardson completed the "Wilderness First Aid and CPR" training provided by the American Red Cross. Finally, in January 2016, they obtained the "Licenced Radio Operator (Extra Class)" certification from the Federal Communications Commission.
