Niels Lovmand Pedersen has extensive work experience in the field of data science and wind turbine diagnostics. Niels Lovmand is currently working as the Principal Data Scientist at SkySpecs, where they lead a highly skilled data science team and is responsible for developing machine learning models for turbine drivetrain damage detection. Prior to this, they held the position of Senior Data Scientist at the same company.
Before joining SkySpecs, Niels worked at Systematic as a Senior Data Scientist, leading multiple data science projects and focusing on change management and upskilling junior engineers. Niels Lovmand also gained valuable experience at Siemens Gamesa, where they served as an Advisory Data Scientist. In this role, they developed an advanced diagnostic platform for automated turbine drivetrain monitoring, authored data-driven diagnostic algorithms for early fault detection, and created algorithms for predicting the faulty component's remaining useful lifetime.
Earlier in their career, Niels worked as a Data Scientist at Siemens Wind Power, where they developed machine learning algorithms for turbine fault detection and prediction. Niels Lovmand also served as a technical project manager for a research project on wind turbine drivetrain monitoring.
Niels has a background in research and academia, having worked as a Research Assistant at Aalborg University. Niels Lovmand was also involved in student advisory and served as a Study Board Representative during their time at the university.
Niels Lovmand Pedersen completed their education in several notable institutions. Niels Lovmand began their educational journey at Aalborg University, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering in 2007. Subsequently, they pursued a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, specialized in Applied Signal Processing and Implementation, achieving this qualification from the same university in 2009.
In 2008, Pedersen expanded their academic horizons and enrolled in the University of California, Berkeley. During their time there, they focused on electrical engineering and signal processing, completing a Master's degree in 2009.
Building upon their prior achievements, Pedersen embarked on an ambitious endeavor, pursuing a Doctorate degree. Niels Lovmand enrolled at Aalborg University once again and specialized in Wireless Communications. After several years of dedicated research and study, they successfully obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 2013.
To augment their expertise, Pedersen also pursued continuous learning and professional growth beyond formal education. In 2018, they completed the Deep Learning Specialization offered by Coursera, furthering their knowledge in this field.
These chronological milestones reflect Pedersen's steadfast commitment to advancing their education and acquiring specialized knowledge in the areas of electrical engineering, signal processing, applied signal processing and implementation, and wireless communications.
