Ann Pretorius

Ann Pretorius is a seasoned technology leader with extensive experience in engineering management. Currently serving as the Director of Engineering at Slack since November 2020, Ann leads the Service Owner Foundations Pillar, focusing on scaling Ingress networking, Service mesh, DDoS mitigation, and cloud core functionality. Prior roles at Slack include Senior Engineering Manager, overseeing the Traffic Ingress Networking and Service Mesh teams, and Engineering Manager at Coffee Meets Bagel, where Ann held several positions including Backend Engineering Manager and Senior Backend Engineer. Ann's career also includes significant roles at Prism Skylabs and CardFlo, Inc., as well as a foundational position as a Graduate Research Assistant at Virginia Tech, where Ann earned a Master of Science in Computer Science.
