Ed Chan

Ed Chan is currently serving as the Senior Director of Software Engineering at Slack since October 2025, focusing on enhancing Slack's messaging platform with diverse content types and communication modes. Prior to Slack, Ed held multiple leadership positions, including Sr. Director of Engineering at Cisco, where responsibilities encompassed overseeing a global team to develop a multi-cloud platform that boosts developer productivity for Cisco Security Cloud. Additional experience includes VP of Engineering at Labelbox, Director of Engineering at Box and Twilio, and Principal Engineering Manager at Microsoft. Ed's career began at Andromedia and Macromedia, where foundational streaming technologies were co-created, further solidifying a strong background in software engineering and system architecture. Ed graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
