Henry Cai

Henry (Haiying) Cai is a seasoned software engineer with extensive experience in data infrastructure and streaming platforms. Currently serving as a Senior Staff Engineer at Slack since May 2022, Henry leads the Data Streaming Team to develop next-generation messaging and streaming capabilities. Prior to that, from 2015 to May 2022, Henry worked at Pinterest as a Software Engineer, where contributions included the creation of a real-time logging platform and the maintenance of the open-source Kafka Log Persistence Engine, Secor. His earlier roles include Staff Software Engineer at LinkedIn, focusing on the redesign of the Big Data Ingestion Framework, and Principal Software Engineer/Manager at SAP Ariba, where Henry spearheaded the development of a multi-tenant SaaS cloud platform and led teams on essential frameworks. Henry holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Fudan University and a Master of Science in Computer Science from McGill University.
