Andy Challis has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and engineering. Andy is currently working as a Principal Engineer at Slalom Build since October 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Capgemini Invent from 2016 to 2021, starting as an Associate Consultant and progressing to various roles including Consultant, Senior Consultant, Manager, and Senior Manager.
During their tenure at Capgemini Invent, Andy led a Python community of over 200 people in the APAC region and designed courses for large-scale training and certification. Andy managed a team of more than 30 people, generated additional sales of approximately $5 million in data science projects, and developed accelerator offerings and demos for potential clients. Andy's technical skills were instrumental in setting up projects with best practices, CI/CD, testing frameworks, and dockerized environments. Andy also played a key role in architecting state-of-the-art OCR, document classification, quality, and extraction microservices, resulting in significant cost and resource savings for clients.
Additionally, Andy utilized various analytical techniques such as predictive analytics, machine learning, traditional statistics, and geospatial analysis in their role as a Senior Consultant. Andy developed algorithms for leak detection for leading UK water utility companies and collaborated with internal and external consultants to deliver impactful insights to clients.
Andy Challis completed their education with a Master of Science (MSci) degree in Mathematics and Statistics from Lancaster University in 2016. Additionally, they pursued further studies and obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Mathematics and Statistics from Texas A&M University in 2015. In August 2019, Andy also obtained the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certification from AWS.
