Ben Money-Coomes has been in the industry since 2008, when they completed an Undergraduate Year in Industry Placement at RWE. In 2011, they joined BP as a Subsea Engineer on the Graduate Scheme, where they were responsible for managing work scopes offshore on Diving, Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) vessels, Drill Rigs and Light Well Intervention vessels in the capacity of BP technical liaison integrating multiple activities. Ben then moved into the role of Subsea Controls Engineer & Product Owner, where they developed an underwater gas seep modelling and risk assessment methodology with an outcome of £2 million directly attributable savings (by 2020). In 2020, they became Co-Lead/Co-Founder of Green Green Technology, where they were improving automation for zero waste stores and the circular economy. In 2021, they took on a Technical Program Manager role at Xihelm, where they headed up the management of design, testing and operations for £1m+ ‘in-greenhouse’ and ‘in-factory’ agricultural robotic systems projects. Finally, they are currently a Senior Product Manager at SLAMcore Limited.
Ben Money-Coomes has a comprehensive education history. Ben obtained a Master of Engineering - MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nottingham between 2006 and 2011. Ben then went on to obtain a Master of Science - MS in Robotics from the University of Bristol between 2018 and 2020. In addition, they have obtained several certifications, including a Professional Scrum Product Owner I from Scrum.org in May 2022, a Raspberry Pi Certified Educator from the Raspberry Pi Foundation in September 2018, and a Chartered Engineer (IMechE) from the Engineering Council in April 2016.
