Andy Barnes

Andy Barnes is an accomplished technology leader with extensive experience in backend software and data engineering. Currently serving as Head of Backend Software at Slate Auto since October 2025, Andy previously held the position of Head of Data & Application Engineering at Lithia Motors, Inc., where responsibilities included leading engineering strategy, AI adoption, and enterprise data modernization. Prior to that, Andy worked at Johnson & Johnson as a Senior Software Engineering Manager, focusing on complex system migrations to microservices architecture. At Truveris, Andy managed engineering teams to develop innovative digital health solutions, while earlier roles included senior positions at Xaxis and contributions to the creation of enterprise-grade applications. Andy holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Arts from the University of Oregon, awarded in 2005.
