Carmelo G. has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of cybersecurity. Carmelo currently holds the role of Chief Information Security Officer at Slaughter and May since April 2023. Before that, they worked as the Head of Cyber Security at ICBC Standard Bank Plc from February 2022 to April 2023. Prior to that, Carmelo served as the Cyber Security Manager at ED&F Man from February 2018 to February 2022.

Carmelo'searlier experiences include working as a Cyber Security Specialist at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP from June 2015 to July 2017, where they handled various responsibilities such as threat detection and prevention, security infrastructure management, and incident handling.

Carmelo also worked as a Security and Network Analyst/Project Manager at Toyota Financial Services from September 2007 to June 2015, where they were responsible for maintaining network security and managing relationships with suppliers. Prior to that, they worked as a Security Consultant at Net Secure Ltd from November 2006 to September 2007, providing consultancy and support in network security.

Carmelo started their career as a Network Engineer at NCR and worked from 1992 to 2000, where they gained expertise in installing and maintaining Cisco routers, switches, and wireless APs. Carmelo also had responsibilities in coordinating junior engineers and providing technical information to presales.

Carmelo G. attended Firebrand Academy in 2016, where they studied Computer and Information Systems Security/Information Assurance. From 1984 to 1986, they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics Technology at Metropolitan Technical Institute. Carmelo also obtained a certification in CISM from ISACA in 2016. Furthermore, they have additional certifications in various fields, such as ChatGPT Tips for the Help Desk, Foundations of Responsible AI, and IT Service Management Foundations: Problem Management, all obtained in 2023 from LinkedIn.
