Slaxin Lelum, legally known as Metro Vancouver Indigenous Services Society (MVISS), is a culturally grounded organization serving the urban Indigenous population in Metro Vancouver. We envision a healthy and thriving Urban Indigenous community—deeply connected to ancestral visions, grounded in cultural knowledge and practices, and living in balance while celebrating the unique gifts of every individual.

Our mission is to provide culturally diverse, trauma-informed support services in a safe and caring environment. We help individuals connect with themselves and their communities, guiding them on their healing journey toward physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. Every program and service we offer is rooted in Indigenous wisdom, knowledge systems, and resilience.

At Slaxin Lelum, we understand that true healing must address the root causes of intergenerational trauma, colonization, and systemic barriers. We do not see trauma or substance use in isolation, but as symptoms of deeper disconnection and harm. Our approach centres Indigenous identities, traditions, and cultural teachings to help individuals reclaim their stories, reconnect with their communities, and restore their wellness.

We provide wraparound supports that include access to cultural programs, community-building initiatives, wellness activities, and holistic care services. Our team is committed to creating a welcoming space for all Urban Indigenous people, including youth, Elders, families, and Two-Spirit and LGBTQ+ relatives.

As a proud partner within the broader Indigenous service ecosystem, Slaxin Lelum collaborates with local organizations, governments, and community leaders to ensure Indigenous voices lead the way in shaping policy, service design, and social change.

Together, we are building a stronger, more connected Urban Indigenous community—one that honours the past, empowers the present, and creates space for future generations to thrive.
