Morteza Monavarian has extensive work experience in the field of optoelectronics and photonics. Morteza currently works as a Senior Epitaxy Development Engineer at KYOCERA SLD Laser since February 2022. Prior to this, they were a Senior Research Scientist at UC Santa Barbara from May 2019 to February 2022. Morteza also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center for High Technology Materials at the University of New Mexico from June 2016 to April 2019. Morteza was a Ph.D. Candidate in Optoelectronics and Photonics and a Laboratory Assistant at Virginia Commonwealth University - College of Engineering from October 2015 to May 2016, and also served as a Student Mentor from August 2013 to December 2015. Morteza started their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at Virginia Commonwealth University from August 2012 to May 2016. Prior to that, they worked as a Teaching Assistant at Sharif University of Technology from September 2011 to June 2012.

Morteza Monavarian pursued their education in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Morteza obtained their Bachelor's Degree from Sharif University of Technology, where they studied from 2007 to 2012. Afterward, they attended Virginia Commonwealth University - College of Engineering and completed their Master's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from 2012 to 2014. Morteza continued their educational journey at the same institution and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Micro/Nanoelectronics, Photonics from 2012 to 2016.
