Andrew Wilson is the current Chief Operating Officer at Sledgehammer Games. Andrew joined the company in order to help build it back up to full production capacity in anticipation of the studio's 10th anniversary in 2019. Wilson also moved the studio to a distributed development model, establishing new locations in Melbourne, Toronto and Guildford. The most recent project under their leadership, Call of Duty Vanguard, was released successfully despite the challenges of moving a large AAA team to work-from-home development during the pandemic.
Prior to their work at Sledgehammer Games, Wilson served as Vice President of Development and Executive Producer at Hangar 13. Andrew was a senior founding member of the studio and helped establish it as a AAA studio for 2K. As the VP of Development at Hangar 13, Wilson was responsible for managing and balancing efforts across all projects and locations, as well as multi-year planning. Andrew partnered with the studio head to identify future opportunities and trends in the industry, and then put plans and structure in place to ensure that they were in a position to take advantage over the long-term. Other responsibilities included the definition of studio development process, goal-setting for the team, hiring & studio growth, fostering studio culture and management of all project budgets globally. Andrew also proposed and led the studio's expansion into Brighton, UK. The first game under their leadership - Mafia III - launched in October 2016 and was subsequently nominated for several awards at the BAFTAs, Videogame Awards and the New York Game Critic Awards, eventually picking up the Herman Melville Award for Best Writing at the latter.
Andrew Wilson went to the University of Nottingham from 1998 to 2001 and got a BSc in Computer Science.
