Jason Yu

Senior Development Director at Sledgehammer Games

Jason Yu has extensive work experience in the gaming industry. Jason started their career at ArenaNet in 2006, where they worked as a Localization Specialist, managing publishing partnerships and localization requirements for Guild Wars China. Jason then took on the role of Localization Project Manager, overseeing localization efforts across multiple vendors for Guild Wars 2. In 2012, they became a Producer at ArenaNet, where they completed a licensing agreement for Guild Wars 2 China and managed all aspects of the game in the Chinese market.

In 2015, Jason joined KIXEYE as the Head of China Business and Senior Project Manager. Jason developed publishing strategies and negotiated licensing agreements, successfully bringing KIXEYE's first mobile title, Vega Conflict, to the Chinese market. Jason also managed the feature development and release schedule for War Commander: Rogue Assault and oversaw China-specific developments.

In 2018, they moved to Electronic Arts (EA) as a Development Director. Jason formed a console team and established development processes for Sims 4 console. Jason also managed pack developments and live releases for Sims 4 console, as well as spearheaded co-development processes for Sims 4 on all platforms. Jason later oversaw feature development, resourcing, and live releases for EA's mobile title, Command and Conquer: Rivals, while supporting EA's China publishing strategy.

In 2020, Jason joined Sledgehammer Games as a Development Director, Engineering. Jason led production for over 100 engineers across different locations and collaborated with other studios to develop features and technologies for Call of Duty Vanguard. In 2022, they were promoted to Senior Development Director, where they now lead production for the single-player campaign and engineering groups, managing development schedules, resources, and budgets for both areas. Additionally, they collaborate with other studios to develop content for future Sledgehammer titles and mentors other production members.

In addition to their gaming industry roles, Jason also served as an Advisory Board Member at California State University - East Bay starting in 2021.

Jason Yu earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science from Northern Arizona University in 2006. Additionally, they hold a certification as a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) from the Scrum Alliance.
