Senior Development Director at Sledgehammer Games

Paul Motion has extensive work experience spanning over three decades. Paul started their career as a Sound Engineer at Matrix Creative Complex in 1991. From 1997 to 1999, they worked as an A/V Studio Manager at SDL International, where they managed the A/V production department. At Eidos Interactive, from 1999 to 2002, Paul served as the Localisation & Audio Manager, overseeing the globalisation/localisation process and managing audio-related issues.

Joining Atari in 2002, Paul held multiple roles. As a Localisation & Outsourcing Producer, they played a key role in raising the profile of Asian localisation within the company. Paul also served as a Producer, responsible for studio assessments and due diligence for APAC developers. During their time at Atari, they identified a lucrative US$1 million project and built the localisation department from scratch.

In 2009, Paul joined IronMonkey Studios as a Senior Producer, responsible for product scope, development processes, and building relationships with international clients. Notably, they led the project management team to win the studio's first US$1 million+ project, "Dead Space."

From 2011 to 2013, Paul worked at EA Mobile as the Development Director and Android Development Director. Paul successfully built and led cross-functional teams, achieving high team engagement and delivering projects on time and within budget. Paul also played a significant role in achieving a 96% gross margin and facilitating simultaneous cross-platform releases.

At Outware Mobile in 2017, Paul served as a Senior Project Manager & Team Lead, supporting the team during acquisition while delivering a key travel application for the NSW Department of Transport.

In 2017, Paul joined Arq Group as the Project Management Team Lead and progressed to become the Delivery Management Lead. Paul directed the delivery component for client pitches, leading to project wins with key clients in the travel sector. Paul also successfully program-managed the largest product development project for the business, worth $18 million.

Currently, Paul Motion is working at Sledgehammer Games as a Senior Development Director, responsible for managing development activities and driving strategic outcomes.

Paul Motion attended City of Westminster College from 1989 to 1991, where they obtained a BTEC HND in Music Production. Paul'sfield of study was Music Production & Technical Engineering. Aside from their formal education, Paul also obtained several additional certifications. In 2014, they became a Certified Scrum Master through Scrum Alliance. In 2018, they achieved the Professional Scrum Master certification from Scrum.org. In 2019, Paul obtained the Professional Scrum Product Owner certification, also from Scrum.org. Most recently, in April 2020, they completed the Product Masterclass: How to Build Digital Products from Product School.
