James Doherty

Founder, Chief Executive at Sliabh Liag Distillers

James Doherty has extensive experience in the drinks industry, starting with their role as General Manager at Eastern Produce Kenya Limited in 1991. James then moved on to William Grant & Sons Distillers Ltd in 1998, where they held various roles including Regional Development Manager and International Marketing Manager. In 2011, they became Managing Director of Foster's Group, and then Business Consultant for Independent. In 2015, they became Chairman of The Porterhouse Brewing Company, Non Executive Director of Truman and Orange (Pty) Ltd, and Founder and Chief Executive of Sliabh Liag Distillers.

James Doherty attended Cranfield University from 1985 to 1989, where they earned a BSc (Hons) in Agriculture, Technology and Management. James then returned to Cranfield University from 1989 to 1990 to earn an MSc in Agricultural Engineering (Soil and Water Option). In 2008, they attended INSEAD to study Finance for Executives.
