Jacob Elnaggar

Chapter President at Sling Health

Jacob Elnaggar has extensive experience in the medical field. Jacob began their career in 2013 as a Science, Technology, Academics, & Research (STAR) Intern at Ochsner Health, where they attended lectures, workshops, and clinical department rotations to learn about various aspects of the medical field, while also doing medically relevant research in a laboratory environment. In 2016, they moved on to become a Bioinformatics Researcher at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans, where they worked on mapping the genomic landscape of triple negative breast cancer. Jacob's work resulted in a manuscript published titled, "An Integrative Genomics Approach for Associating Genetic Susceptibility with the Tumor Immune Microenvironment in Triple Negative Breast Cancer". In 2017, they were accepted to the CPRIT-CURE Summer Undergraduate Program at MD Anderson in Houston, where they conducted research in the Bioinformatics & Computational Biology Department with Anil Korkut, PhD. Jacob's project was to implement a mathematical method to analyze specific targeted therapies in order to identify their adaptive resistance behaviors in BRAF inhibitor-resistant melanoma cells. Currently, Jacob is the Chapter President at Sling Health.

Jacob Elnaggar attended Baylor University from 2014 to 2018, obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Biomathematics, Bioinformatics, and Computational Biology. Jacob then attended Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center from 2018 to 2024, where they are currently pursuing an MD/PhD.
