David Witman

Principal Data Scientist at Slingshot Aerospace

David Witman has a diverse work experience that spans various industries and roles. Starting in 2010, they worked as an Engineering Intern at Pratt & Whitney, gaining hands-on experience in design and systems integration methods. In 2011, they continued their work at Pratt & Whitney as a Part-time Advanced Methods Engineer, where they developed and maintained engineering tools used within the Hot Section Engineering branch. In 2014, David worked as a Freelance Programmer at oDesk, showcasing their programming skills. From 2011 to 2016, they also took on multiple roles at Florida State University, including Graduate Research Assistant, Introduction to Computer Applications in Psychology, and Excel for Business Teaching Assistant. In 2016, David joined The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory as a Senior Air and Missile Defense Researcher, specializing in air and missile defense research. Currently, they are working at Slingshot Aerospace as the Machine Learning and Simulation Lead Data Scientist.

David Witman holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computational Science from Florida State University, which they completed from 2014 to 2016. David also earned a Master of Science degree in Scientific Computing from the same university between 2011 and 2013. Prior to that, David obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University from 2008 to 2011. It is worth noting that during their time at Clarkson University, David also pursued an additional degree in Mechanical Engineering.
