Sara Duke began their professional career in 2018 as a Bachelor Thesis Student Research at Bode Research Group, where they designed and completed a 11-week research project in protein chemistry. During this role, they utilized skills and methods such as SDS PAGE analysis, protein expression in E. Coli, protein quantification with UV-vis spectroscopy, rhodamine labelling assays, site-directed mutagenesis and sequencing, exponential amplifications(PCR), and heat-shock transformation into E. Coli.
In 2020, they began working as an Associate Scientist and Research Associate at Rules-Based Medicine a Q² Solutions Company. In this role, they worked in Acquisitions and Processing for a molecular diagnostics company and was frequently involved with the manufacturing of assays to on a small and large scale to be run on Luminex and SIMOA Systems. This included processing antibodies, dialyzing material, ordering material, using Microsoft Excel and combining mathematical functions with scientific knowledge to determine the amount of material needed to manufacture the large scale assays for testing.
Currently, Sara Duke is a Research Manager at Slingshot Insights, a role they began in 2022.
Sara Duke attended The University of Texas at Austin from 2016 to 2020, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. In 2019, they also completed the McCombs Summer Institute in Business Foundations. In 2018, they were an exchange student at ETH Zürich, studying Organic Chemistry.
