Barry Balding

Barry Balding is a Principal Geologist and Technical Director for Mining Advisory Europe at SLR Consulting, bringing over 30 years of technical and management expertise in the mining and aggregate sectors, encompassing both open pit and underground operations. Barry oversees large-scale multi-disciplinary projects, including feasibility studies and site assessments across various commodities such as gold, zinc, copper, and limestone. Previous roles include Principal Geologist at Golder Associates, Development Geologist & Geophysicist at CEMEX, Chief Mine Geologist and Mine Geologist at Arcon Mines Ltd, Exploration Geologist - Geophysicist at Conroy Petroleum & Natural Resources Ltd, and Processing Geophysicist at CGG. Academic qualifications include a BA Hons in Geology/Earth Science from Trinity College Dublin and an MSc in Applied Geophysics from the University of Galway.
