Allan Montanari, PhD, is a seasoned engineer with extensive expertise in energy storage and renewable technologies. Currently serving as a Senior Principal Engineer at SMA America, Allan focuses on the development and simulation modeling of utility-scale solar and battery storage projects. Prior experience includes leadership roles at Duke Energy Corporation, where Allan oversaw the engineering design of transmission-tied battery storage, and at Seminole Electric Cooperative, where Allan conducted techno-economic analyses and led projects in renewable energy and electrification. Allan’s foundational work in high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission technology began during a tenure at the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
