Anna Lappé

Founding Principal at Small Planet Institute

Anna Lappé has a diverse and extensive work experience in the food and sustainability sector. Anna is currently serving as the Executive Director of the Global Alliance for the Future of Food. Prior to this role, they worked as the Director of the Food Sovereignty Fund at the Panta Rhea Foundation starting from 2016. In 2011, they founded the Real Food Media, where they also served as a Strategic Advisor.

Anna Lappé's career in this field began in 2002 when they co-founded the Small Planet Institute and served as a Founding Principal. At the institute, they also took on the role of Founding Principal and Director of the Small Planet Fund, which supports social movements and grassroots organizations addressing issues like hunger, poverty, and environmental devastation.

Between 2008 and 2010, Anna Lappé created "Take a Bite out of Climate Change," and from 2004 to 2006, they worked as a Food and Society Policy Fellow at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. Overall, Anna Lappé has demonstrated a strong commitment to promoting sustainable food systems and advocating for food justice.

Anna Lappé earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Educational Policy and History from Brown University from 1991 to 1995. Anna then pursued a Master's degree in Economic and Political Development from Columbia | SIPA, attending from 1998 to 2000.
