Robert Thompson has a diverse work experience spanning a variety of roles in the marketing and sales field. Robert started their career at Dwyer Instruments, Inc. as an Inside Sales Engineer in 1994 and subsequently worked as a Field Sales Engineer before moving up to roles such as Product Manager and Marketing Manager. Robert eventually became the Marketing and Technical Sales Manager, overseeing a team of 20 sales engineers and marketing professionals. In 2012, they took on the role of Marketing and Business Development Manager, responsible for strategic marketing and product management, and later became the Global Marketing & E-Business Manager. In 2016, Thompson joined Smalley as their Director of Marketing before being promoted to Vice President of Marketing in 2020. In this position, they lead various departments including marketing, research and development engineering, manufacturing engineering, and customer service. Thompson's experience encompasses areas such as marketing communications, strategic planning, customer experience, new product research and development, manufacturing machine development, and automation.

Robert Thompson has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Aerospace Engineering from Penn State University. Robert also holds a degree in Executive Management with a field of study in Leadership from the University of Notre Dame - Mendoza College of Business. Additionally, they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Indiana University South Bend, specializing in Marketing/Marketing Management. Robert further pursued education in the field of Mergers and Acquisitions at UCLA Anderson School of Management. In terms of certifications, they have obtained certifications in Competitive Intelligence from the Helicon Group, Copywriting from the DMA, Email Marketing from the DMA, and SPIN Selling from the Miller Heiman Group.
