Dan Thomsen

Principal Researcher at SIFT

Dan Thomsen has extensive work experience in the field of computer security research and analysis. Dan started their career as a Principal Senior Research Scientist at Secure Computing Corporation in 1987 and worked there until 2003. Dan then joined Tresys Technology, LLC as a Principal Engineer, where they focused on new business development in computer security research and provided guidance to the government. After their time at Tresys Technology, LLC, Dan worked at the Cyber Defense Agency as a Lead Analyst from 2005 to 2010. Dan then joined Sandia National Laboratories as a Consultant from 2009 to 2012. Currently, they work as a Principal Researcher at Smart Information Flow Technologies (SIFT).

Dan Thomsen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Minnesota Duluth in the years 1983 to 1987. Dan then went on to pursue a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota from 1988 to 1991. In terms of additional certifications, Dan obtained certifications in Nearest Neighbor Collaborative Filtering, Introduction to Recommender Systems: Non-Personalized and Content-Based (with Honors), Gamification, and Data Analysis from Coursera in the years 2013 and 2017.
