Chief Engineer at SMT

Chris Hughes has had a diverse range of work experiences in the engineering field. Chris started their career at TRAN-X, where they worked their way up to the position of Design Manager, overseeing various aspects of the business. Chris then joined Jaguar Land Rover, where they served as a Transmission and Driveline Engineer before becoming a Project Manager for an advanced transmissions research project. After leaving JLR, Chris established their own driveline design company called 2Spec Design, where they successfully completed various Motorsport driveline projects. Chris later co-founded 2Spec Transmissions, a company focused on innovative transmission design and motorsport driveline design. Chris has also worked as the Founder of Engineering Resource Network, providing tailored and flexible engineering support. Currently, they are serving as the Chief Engineer at SMT.

Chris Hughes received their A-levels in Physics, English, and IT from Finham Park. Chris later obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree with a specialization in Motorsport from Coventry University.
