Cherise Barrie

Cherise Barrie has an extensive work experience in finance and leadership roles. Cherise is currently the Chief Financial Officer at Smartpay New Zealand. Prior to this, they held the position of Chairperson and Independent Director at Aurora Capital Limited and Aurora Financial Group. Cherise has also worked as a Chartered Accountant at Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. Cherise is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and has held the role of Chief Financial Officer at Stonewood Group, Heartland Bank Limited, healthAlliance NZ Limited, and Aotal. Cherise has also served as the Chief Financial Officer and Director on Subsidiary Companies at Sovereign, the largest life insurer in New Zealand. Their roles have involved leading finance functions, managing teams, and contributing to strategic goals of the organizations they have worked with.

Cherise Barrie completed a Company Directors Program at the Institute of Directors in New Zealand in 2018. In 2020, they attended Faraday & Company and participated in a Professional Advisory Board Chair program. Cherise also obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy from Massey University, which they completed from 1988 to 1990.
