Markus Pichler

Markus Pichler's work experience includes various roles and responsibilities in different companies. Markus is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Smarter Ecommerce (smec) since August 2020. Previously, they served as the VP Corporate Development & New Business at the same company from January 2020 to July 2020.

From 2018 to 2019, Markus took a break from work to focus on consulting and being a father.

Markus co-founded Alps Ventures in 2011 and worked as the Founder & Managing Partner until February 2018. In this role, they focused on venture building and investment, creating and investing in meaningful businesses. Some of the portfolio companies they were involved with were DocDoc (HealthTech), miKunu (MarketingTech), and Clusterhaus (CoWorking), among others.

Additionally, Markus worked as a Lecturer at WU Wien Department für Entrepreneurship und Innovation from October 2011 to October 2012.

Prior to that, they were the Co-Founder & CEO Austria & Switzerland at DailyDeal GmbH from December 2009 to November 2011, eventually leading to an exit to Google.

Before their role at DailyDeal, Markus was a Member of the Executive Board and later the Head of Marketing at icons - consulting by students from July 2009 to July 2010 and from October 2008 to June 2009, respectively.

Markus also gained experience as a Research Analyst at the Office of Science and Technology Austria - Washington, D.C. | Embassy of Austria in October to December 2009. Markus also worked as a Projektmanagement/Consultant at VZnet Ltd from July to September 2009.

Furthermore, Markus served as a Teaching Assistant at WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) in the Department of Entrepreneurship & Innovation from October 2008 to June 2009.

Markus Pichler pursued their education at WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) where they focused on Entrepreneurship & Innovation Management and Marketing Management. Markus obtained a merit-based scholarship from the same institution in August 2009. No specific start or end year for their education is provided.
