Miguel Gomes

Miguel Gomes has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Their most recent position was as the Director of Machine Learning Engineering at Smartex, where they started in October 2019. Prior to that, Miguel worked as a PHD Student at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía (IAA-CSIC) from December 2017 to September 2019. Miguel also gained experience in plasma fluid simulations during their time at INESC Technology and Science - Associate Laboratory, where they developed a modular solver for plasma simulations using C/C++ and CUDA from July 2016 to September 2017. Miguel's educational background is evident through their role as a Summer School Monitor at Faculdade de Ciências, UP, where they facilitated learning in physics for high school students in August 2016. Additionally, they gained experience in supercomputing and GPGPU during their tenure at the same institution, which lasted from February 2016 to July 2016. Earlier in their career, Miguel worked on thin film preparation and analysis at IFIMUP-IN from February 2015 to July 2015.

Miguel Gomes obtained their Bachelor's degree in Technological Physics from Universidade do Porto, where they studied from 2012 to 2016. Following this, they pursued a Master's degree in Physical Engineering at the same university, completing their studies from 2012 to 2017.
