Amr Refaat

Amr Refaat is an accomplished executive with over 30 years of experience in the technology sector. Currently serving as Managing Director at Smartmatic since March 2023, Refaat focuses on digital transformation initiatives. Prior to this, Refaat led Gulf Business Machines (GBM) as Chief Executive Officer from July 2019 to June 2023, overseeing operations across the GCC and Pakistan from the Dubai headquarters. Refaat's extensive career at IBM spanned nearly three decades, culminating in the role of General Manager and Vice President for the Middle East and Pakistan, where substantial growth was achieved through the establishment of new offices and client relationships in various countries. Refaat holds a degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering from Cairo University and an MBA in International Business from Maastricht School of Management.
