Joseph Piekos is a Junior Quantitative Analyst at Smartodds since September 2023, focusing on the development and implementation of statistical models for forecasting sports events. Prior experience includes a position as a Research Assistant at the MRC Biostatistics Unit from July to September 2022, where Joseph utilized likelihood-free Bayesian methods to estimate parameters of compartmental infection models and compared novel methods with standard techniques. Additionally, ownership of YouFruit from May 2020 to June 2022 involved managing logistics, accounts, and customer service, delivering fresh Kentish fruit to over 90 customers weekly. Joseph holds an MSc in Statistical Science from the University of Oxford and a BS in Mathematics from Durham University, complemented by education at Sir Joseph Williamson’s Mathematical School.
