John Murphy

Chief Engineer at Smit Lamnalco

John Murphy has a diverse work experience in the maritime industry. John began their career as a Trainee Engineer at GO MARINE GROUP in July 2017 and transitioned to CSL Ships in November 2017, where they worked as an Engine Cadet until November 2019. Following this, they joined Fodico Marine Group as a Maintenance Engineer/Marine Engineer in April 2014. In November 2019, they moved to Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd and held the position of Second Engineer until 2019. In 2020, they worked as a 3rd Engineer at CSL Ships and then became the Chief Engineer at Smit Lamnalco in December 2020.

John Murphy completed a Diploma in Shipboard Electrical from UTAS/AMC in 2019. Prior to that, they attained a BAppSc(MarEng) degree in Maritime from UTAS/AMC, which they completed in 2018. In 2015, they earned a Diploma in Engineer/Watchkeeper from Hunter TAFE. Their education history also includes a degree in Diesel Fitter from Central Queensland TAFE, which they completed from 1997 to 2000.
