John MacMillan

John MacMillan is currently the Senior Editorial Director at Smith College, where they provide strategic direction for print and digital communications, including the Smith Alumnae Quarterly magazine. Previously, they served as Editor at the Smith Alumnae Quarterly from 1994 to 2008, overseeing the magazine's development and production while earning over 20 awards for excellence. John began their career as a reporter at the Holyoke Transcript & Telegram and the Daily Hampshire Gazette, covering local government and courts. They earned a BA in Journalism from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1989 and have also worked as a freelance editor since 2000.
