Helen Barraclough

Helen Barraclough joined Smith+Nephew in July 2013 as Chief Counsel, APAC and Emerging Markets, before her promotion in 2017 to Associate General Counsel, Global Commercial. Helen became Group General Counsel in January 2022 and Company Secretary in April 2022. She is responsible for the Group Legal function, Company Secretariat and also serves as Chief Risk Officer. Helen is based in Watford, UK.

Helen is a skilled leader with strong global corporate, commercial and risk management expertise who has helped Smith+Nephew to deliver its strategic objectives and further embed their cultural values. Helen started her career with Allen & Overy LLP and prior to joining Smith+Nephew also held senior legal M&A roles at WPP plc and Nomura International plc.

Helen holds a master’s degree in Law from Cambridge University. She is also accredited as a Chartered Governance Professional and admitted as a Solicitor in England and Wales.
