Brian Rener

Brian Rener, P.E. LEED AP, serves as Vice President and National Director of Mission Critical at SmithGroup, leading the design and delivery of data centers and high-performance computing facilities since February 2014. Previously, Brian held roles including Principal Engineer and Project Manager at SmithGroup's Chicago office, Design Manager and Electrical Platform Leader at M+W Group, and Midwest Regional President at Sebesta Blomberg. Brian's experience also includes serving as Vice President of Electrical Engineering at A. Epstein & Sons and a Manager at Grumman/Butkus Associates. From 2005 to 2015, Brian was an elected Village Board Trustee and Chairman of the Finance Committee for the Village of Lake Bluff, Illinois. Brian's career began as a Senior Engineer at Knight Architects and Engineers and includes multiple leadership positions in electrical engineering since earning a BSEE in Electrical Engineering from Michigan State University.
